#EURO2016 is in full swing and in social media the football fever is rising as well. On Saturday Germany’s team is facing a big challenge and everybody will be crossing his fingers.
But before the game will show if Germany will reach the semi-finals, we show you the most important football facts & figures in the social web:
Whereas Bastian Schweinsteiger led the pack among Germany’s football players at the beginning of our survey, he has since then been outperformed by Jérôme Boateng. The pole position in the “WAG race” however, has long been established: Cathy Hummels is by far the most talked about wife or girlfriend.
That Jogi Löw is mentioned most concerning the coaches might not be a surprise, but 402 mentions compared to Spanish colleague Vincente del Bosque’s 69, does say something about social media’s interest in the team’s leader.
As expected Twitter was the preferred platform for discussions about football, the Euro matches and its players. For comparison: 6.526 football-related tweets dwarf Facebook’s 715 football posts.
